I am trying to clean up my Dad's machine and I'm having a really hard time. I was trying to get rid of WinFixer 2005 Pop-Ups that take over when you are using IE. I went through all of the "Do This First" steps in the forum rules. I don't know if WinFixer is gone, but I found 2 other problems: I keep getting pop-ups for WinantiVirusPro 2005/WinAnitSpyware 2005 and the CWS Shredder program keeps finding vx2.look2me. It says that it is removing it, but after I re-boot and run CWS Shredder again to make sure that it's gone, CWS Shredder always finds it again.

Also, I read in a related post that it's important to know if this is a multi-user machine. This machine has accounts for my mother, my father, and a guest account.

Thanks so much for the response! I went through your instructions, but when it ran Hijack This after VundoFix, the first of the 3 things that you said to check wasn't there. I didn't know what to do, so I just ran another Hijack This log, here it is...

Now Make sure ALL WINDOWS and BROWSERS are CLOSED and hit the Fix Checked Button!


Click Start-> Run-> Type in Services.msc and Click OK!

Scroll that list and locate this entry

Machine Debug Manager(MDM)

Right Click that entry and Select Properties-> Click Stop-> Go up and change the Startup Type to Disabled!

Click Apply-> OK and Exit the Services Page!


Download WinPFind:

Right Click the Zip Folder and Select "Extract All"

Don't use it yet!

Restart in Safe Mode

From the WinPFind folder-> Doubleclick WinPFind.exe and Click "Start Scan"

It will scan the entire System, so please be patient!

One you see "Scan Complete"-> a log (WinPFind.txt) will be automatically generated in the WinPFind folder!


Post back with a fresh HijackThis log and the results from WinPFind
