Hi. New to site. Can s/o help me with a recurring WinFixer/Party Poker popup. I've read some other posts on the subject and all I've been able to follow so far is that I should download HijackThis (whic I've done) and post a log. Here's the log:

* Copy these instructions to notepad and save them to your desktop. You will need them to refer to.

* Click here to download Please download VundoFix.exe.

Save the VundoFix.exe file to your desktop.
Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files.
This will create a VundoFix folder on your desktop.
After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
You will first be presented with a warning that should look like this

VundoFix V2.13 by Atri
By using VundoFix you agree that you are doing so at your own risk
Press enter to continue....
At this point press the Enter key on your keyboard one time.
Next you will see:

Type in the filepath as instructed by the forum staff
Then Press Enter, Then F6, Then Enter Again to continue with the fix.
At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
- C:\WINDOWS\system32\awtqn.dll
Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
Next you will see:

Please type in the second filepath as instructed by the forum staff
Then Press Enter, Then F6, Then Enter Again to continue with the fix.
At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):C:\WINDOWS\system32\nqtwa.*
Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
The fix will run then HijackThis will open.
In HiJackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:
- O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {6DD0BC06-4719-4BA3-BEBC-FBAE6A448152} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\awtqn.dll
- O20 - Winlogon Notify: awtqn - C:\WINDOWS\system32\awtqn.dll
After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis and Press any key to Force a reboot of your computer.
Pressing any key will cause a "Blue Screen of Death" this is normal, do not worry!
Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below.

*Download Cleanup from Here

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Click the Options... button on the right.
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
- Empty Recycle Bins
- Delete Cookies
- Delete Prefetch files
- Cleanup! All Users
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.
It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

* Run ActiveScan online virus scan here

When the scan is finished, anything that it cannot clean have it delete it.
Save the results from the scan!
Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HiJackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

I was able to delet everthing except pmnm.dll--it just wasn't there.

I didn't see any file in the vundofix folder.

We need to do this one more time:

* Copy these instructions to notepad and save them to your desktop. You will need them to refer to.

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
You will first be presented with a warning that should look like this

Press enter to continue....
At this point press the Enter key on your keyboard one time.
Next you will see:

Type in the filepath as instructed by the forum staff
Then Press Enter, Then F6, Then Enter Again to continue with the fix.
At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
- C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmnnm.dll
Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
Next you will see:

Please type in the second filepath as instructed by the forum staff
Then Press Enter, Then F6, Then Enter Again to continue with the fix.
At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):C:\WINDOWS\system32\mnnmp.*

If you have a script blocker running, you may get a warning about a malicious script. Allow the script to run. It is not malicious.
The fix will run then HijackThis will open.
In HiJackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:

After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis and Press any key to Force a reboot of your computer.
Pressing any key will cause a "Blue Screen of Death" this is normal, do not worry!
Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below.

* Run Cleanup.

Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.
It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

* Go here and do an online virus scan. Choose "Complete Scan" and select all drives to scan.

When the scan is finished, anything that it cannot clean have it delete it. Click "Print Report". The report will open in your browser. Go to File > Save As and save the file to your desktop. Under "Save as type" click the dropdown menu and choose "Text file (*.txt) and save it as a text file.

Copy the results of the Housecall scan and paste them here along with a new HiJackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

OK. Thanks.

I ran through everything again. Seems like everything worked but here are a few quirks.

1) In safe mode, the screen was black except for text at the top and corners. I was still able to run the vundofix program.

2) In vundofix, I didn't have to push F6. Indeed if I pressed enter once, it brought me to the next step. Pressing it twice skipped the step where you enter the second pathway.

3) No file in HiJackThis matching the O2 file you list.

4) No blue screen of death. Had to hard re-boot.

Otherwise everything ran fine. The virus scan didn't find anything.

The infection is still there, Please run through the whole process exactly as you did before then post the new HJT and Vundofix logs. If it doen't work this time we will attempt another method.

I have heard that the latest removal tool from Symantec is working pretty well on this most of the time so let's give it a try.

Either way you need to get rid of Norton and get one ASAP!

Run Hijack This again and put a check by these. Close ALL windows except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Restart your computer.

Now turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn System Restore back on and create a restore point.

To create a restore point:

Single-click Start and point to All Programs.
Mouse over Accessories, then System Tools, and select System Restore.
In the System Restore wizard, select the box next the text labeled "Create a restore point" and click the Next button.
Type a description for your new restore point. Something like "After trojan/spyware cleanup". Click Create and you're done.

Check this out for info on how to tighten your security settings and some good free tools to help prevent this from happening again.
