Had been using McAfee, but no longer. Intend to stay with Ewido now, as it is the only recommended program that identified Vundo as the problem. All the others gave me clean scan results, including Panda ActiveScan.

I ran VundoFix.exe in safe mode, using C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddcca.dll for the first path, and C:\WINDOWS\system32\accdd.* for the second path. The command prompts a message that the process cannot be deleted because it is in use by another process. Continuing with the instructions, when HJT popped open, I ran the scan and clicked the 02-BHO and 020-Winlogon lines to be fixed. I then rebooted and ran Cleanup.

HJT shows I'm still infected, Ewido shows it too, but nothing else does. I'm including the last Ewido scan report, in hopes that will help.

Are you logged in as the Administrator of the System?

Lets try something different, you need to delete the VundoFix you have presently and download another copy to a floppy disk!

Go to Safe Mode and log in as the Administrator,Install the new copy of the VundoFix and run it from there!

Save the results back to the floppy if it doesnt do it automatically!

Post the results of the VundoFix in the next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log!

Also,if you didnt place all those 015s into the Trusted Zone of IE,then Right-Click Here and Click "Save As" to download DelDomains.inf to your desktop.

Right Click DelDomains.inf on your desktop and select "Install"

It will perform a silent process>Give it a minute to run!

Oh, btw...the new copy of fix that I downloaded via your link above is not the same as the previous one. The new copy seemingly does not use the F6, at least it is not in the onscreen instructions as it was before, and if you do the F6 anyway, the program begins to run without giving an option to enter second filepath.

Hmmm,this is different!

Lets try this one more time!

Get rid of any old copies of the VundoFix and use the Instructions below

Run the Fix in Normal Mode and Save the log it generates

Do not run the Panda Online Scan!

After the Vundo Fix runs-> Download WinPFind:
http://www.bleepingc...es/winpfind.php

Right Click the Zip Folder and Select "Extract All"

Don't use it yet!

Restart in Safe Mode

From the WinPFind folder-> Doubleclick WinPFind.exe and Click "Start Scan"

It will scan the entire System, so please be patient!

One you see "Scan Complete"-> a log (WinPFind.txt) will be automatically generated in the WinPFind folder!

Please print these instructions out for use in Safe Mode.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files
  • This will create a VundoFix folder on your desktop.
  • After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
  • Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
  • You will first be presented with a warning.
    It should look like this

    VundoFix V2.15 by Atri
By using VundoFix you agree that you are doing so at your own risk
    Press enter to continue....

  • At this point press enter one time.
  • Next you will see:

Please Type in the filepath as instructed by the forum staff
    and then press enter:

  • At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddcca.dll
  • Press Enter to continue with the fix.
  • Next you will see:

Please type in the second filepath as instructed by the forum
    staff then press enter:

  • At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):C:\WINDOWS\system32\accdd.*
This will be the vundo filename spelt backwards. for example if the vundo dll was vundo.dll you would have the user enter odnuv.*
  • Press Enter to continue with the fix.
  • The fix will run then HijackThis will open, if it does not open automatically please open it manually.
  • In HiJackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {8DBF02DA-4360-4A7E-BEA1-347B87816327} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddcca.dll

    O20 - Winlogon Notify: ddcca - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddcca.dll
  • After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis.
  • Press enter to exit the program then manually reboot your computer.
  • Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below.

Post back with a fresh HijackThis log and the logs from WinPFind and the VundoFix

Now aint this about a frigin pain in the butt!

I can see you had much more than Vundo,I just hope the most of its allready gone!

Lets give Vundo another slap!

Reboot in Safe Mode and press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to open the Task Manager!

Click Processes-> Locate Explorer.exe and Right Click-> Select End Process

Back in the Task Manager-> Click File-> New Task(Run...)-> Click Browse and navigate to the Vundo Fix folder you just used!

Run it again, just as before and hopefully this bugger will die this time!

Post back and let me know,I still have a trick or 2 up my sleeve!

You are soooo right about past infestestaions. About eight months ago I got hit bad, and it was my own fault. I play Everquest, and late one night after a long raid I forgot to turn virus protector back on. The first pass of McAfee showed a count of 301 seperate virii and spyware installed on my system, but managed to get rid of all that a whole lot easier than getting rid of this Vundo or whatever it is.

I followed instructions in Safe Mode, killing explorer.exe and then running the Vundo Fix. Didn't work, command prompt still returning message that it's in use by another process. Btw, I turned off Microsoft Antispyware to do fix, but that didn't seem to help.

Logs follow:

If you dont mind,I need to see 2 different HijackThis logs in hopes I can figure this one out!

Run MSCONFIG and enable everything in the startup area. To get to MSCONFIG, click on Start -> Run -> type in MSCONFIG -> click OK!

Under the "General" Tab

Make Sure "Normal Startup-load all device drivers and services" has a green tick by it

Click Apply>>Close>>Follow the Prompts to Restart!

Restart in Safe Mode and Scan with HijackThis,Save that log

Go back into Normal,Scan with HijackThis,Save that log

Post back with both logs please!

OK,lets get this other garbage cleared out first!

Make sure that Microsoft AntiSpyware and SpySubtracts real time protections are disabled during this entire fix!

Go to Add\Remove Programs and Remove Media Access if it exist!

Copy the text below to a blank notepad page and Save it to the Desktop as rem.reg but dont run it just yet!
