I am having problems with IE 6 Freezing up after I have been browsing for a short time. When I look at Task manager it shows ieexporer process at 100%. The only way I can seem to close the explorer windows is by killing the process. I have also been getting these nasty WinFixer windows telling me how it can help and to download now. This Winfixer is nasty. Only way I could get to your web site is to run AOL under broadband. Browser seems to work OK there, but IE does not work if I run it just through the Cable Modem. I had run AOl Spam scanner and it finds Winfixer but cannot block it. I have run all the rest of the software you have recommend and have logs for Ad-Aware and for Ewido. They did not find Winfixer. Below is my Hijack scan log after running all of the recommended software. Please help, Thanks Dave T

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Please disable Microsoft Antispyware, as it may hinder the removal of some entries. You can re-enable it after you're clean.

Right click on the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon (looks like a target) and click on :
Security Agents Status (Enabled)
Disable Real-time Protection

To re enable it, you follow the same steps but click on Enable Real-time Protection.

You are currently using HijackThis from a temporary directory, this can cause problems.
HijackThis creates backups, these are needed in case of any recovery issues.
Please create a folder on your C:\ drive for HijackThis and give it a name( example:HJT), move the HijackThis.exe to that folder. Run the program from that directory from now on.

I need you to download a few programs to aide in our fix : (DO NOT Run Them Yet !!)

Download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files
This will create a VundoFix folder on your desktop.

Download and install CCleaner

Download Ewido Security Suite
Install ewido security suite
When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
The program will now go to the main screen
You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
On the left hand side of the main screen click update
Then click on Start Update
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.

Reboot to Safe mode
Restart your computer and immediately begin tapping the F8 key on your keyboard.
If done right a Windows Advanced Options menu will appear.
Select the Safe Mode option and press Enter.

Open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
You will first be presented with a warning.
It should look like this

VundoFix V2.15 by Atri
By using VundoFix you agree that you are doing so at your own risk
Press enter to continue....

At this point press enter one time.
Next you will see:

Please Type in the filepath as instructed by the forum staff
and then press enter:

At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
C:\WINDOWS\system32\efebb.dll
Press Enter to continue with the fix.

Next you will see:

Please type in the second filepath as instructed by the forum
staff then press enter:

At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
C:\WINDOWS\system32\bbefe.*

Press Enter to continue with the fix.

The fix will run then HijackThis will open, if it does not open automatically please open it manually.
In HiJackThis, please place a check next to the following items : (if present)

O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {6DD0BC06-4719-4BA3-BEBC-FBAE6A448152} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\efebb.dll

O20 - Winlogon Notify: efebb - C:\WINDOWS\system32\efebb.dll

Click Fix Checked
After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis.
Press enter to exit the program then manually reboot your computer.

Run CCleaner
SETUP
DO NOT USE THE ISSUES TAB!!!!
Open CCleaner
Options, Advanced: Uncheck "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours" (for cleaning malware files!)

Options, Settings: Check "Run CCleaner when system starts" (optional)
Options, Settings: Check "Add 'Run Cleaner' option to Recycle Bin context menu" (optional)

To clean your machine, it is highly recommended that you clean the following directory contents (but not the directory folder):

Options>CustomFolders>Add Folder>Navigate to these folders (click on bold file once and hit OK) :
* C:\Windows\Temp\
* C:\Windows\Prefetch
* C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Profile>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\ (This will delete all your cached internet content including cookies.)
* C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Profile>\Local Settings\Temp\
* C:\Documents and Settings\<Any other users Profile>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\
* C:\Documents and Settings\<Any other users Profile>\Local Settings\Temp\
Hit OK
In left pane, scroll down to "Advanced, Custom Folders", put a check in Custom Folders
Then click on Run Cleaner.
Put check in box to not show message again.
It will automatically clean.

Close out CCleaner.

Run Ewido Security Suite
Click on scanner
Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
NOTE:During some scans with ewido it is finding cases of false positives.**See Below**[list]

**(Ewido for example has been flagging parts of AVG Anti-Virus, pcAnywhere and the game "Risk")

You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
If ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
DO NOT select "Perform action on all infections"
If you are unsure of any entry found select none for now.
Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
Click Save report.
Save the report .txt file to your desktop.
Now close Ewido Security Suite.

Run Panda's ActiveScan and perform a full system scan.
- Once you are on the Panda site click the "Scan your PC" button
- A new window will open...click the big "Check Now" button
- Enter your Country
- Enter your State/Province
- Enter your e-mail address and click send
- Select either Home User or Company
- Click the big Scan Now button
- If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
- It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It will take a couple minutes)
- Click on "Local Disks" to start the scan

Reboot and post a new HijackThis log, Ewido Log, vundofix.txt, and the Panda Log here
