Hi
I have recently (within the last day) obtained some kind of virus i think. I initially had something called WinTools on my computer which i managed to get rid of, but now and i now seem to have something that:

- gives an error message on boot
"RUNDLL
An exception error occurred while trying to run ""C:\Windows\System32\ksdro.dll",UMonitor"
Although the dll file seems to be a different one upon every restart.

- An unsually high amount of popups and redirections from websites

- Slowed down the computers speed to snails pace

- I can no longer play on online games (CoD), as punkbuster kicks me for "inadequate o/s privileges" (Although i have an administrator account)

Although im not sure that the last point is to do with the same problem.
I have noticed that there are quite a few posts with very similar problems, is this something virus thats going round at th moment??

I have run AVG (although no viruses found), Adaware and Spybot S&D a number of times. I have deleted everything found, but spybot keeps coming up with 3 'redirected hosts' which it says it gets rid of, but then keep coming back :tazz: . These are:

- Common Hijacker: Redirected host
search.netscape.com=69.20.16.183

- Common Hijacker: Redirected host
auto.netscape.com=69.20.16.183

- IGetNet: Redirected host
ieautosearch=69.20.16.183

I don't know how to go about fixing this, and im not very experianced at dealing with these sort of problems, can someone please help me?

Many thanks in advance.

Dan.

I have been trying various scans in and out of safe mode, and i seem to have made no progress at all. Infact, i think im making it worse!

I am now getting a critical error from Spyguard after about 3 minutes after booting, and then an immediate system fatal error, followed by the blue screen of death! I have turned Sypguard off in msconfig in the hope that will stop.

Im posting latest HijackThis log, with a few things turned off in msconfig.

Please help me someone!

Cheers

Dan.

Just want to keep my post active and on the 1st page until its fixed.

Good luck with that. :tazz: That really doesn't help, and will probably hurt getting replies. We generally work from the oldest posts to the newest.

Run killbox and paste each of these lines into the box, select delete on reboot then press the red X button, when it says reboot now, say no and continue to paste the lines into the box in turn and follow the above procedure every time, after the last line has been pasted let it reboot.

C:\WINDOWS\System32\Guard.tmp
C:\WINDOWS\system32\jt4007hme.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\ntsmod.exe <= save till last

After the reboot copy and paste the text in bold below into a text editor such as Notepad.
Save this text as FixVX2.reg. Make sure the "Save as type:" is "All Files (*.*)" and save it to your desktop.
Double-click on FixVX2.reg. When it asks you to merge the information to the registry click Yes.

Download VX2Finder from:
http://www.downloads...g/VX2Finder.exe
Run it and use the Restore Policy button

Then copy & paste the text in bold below into notepad and save it as recyclerem.bat
(Set filetype to "All Files")

attrib -r -s -h %systemdrive%\Recycler
del %systemdrive%\Recycler
attrib -r -s -h %systemdrive%\Recycled
del %systemdrive%\Recycled
shutdown /r /t 0 /f

Close all programs and doubleclick recyclerem.bat

Your computer will reboot and you will have a shiny new (empty) recycle bin.

After the reboot can you look for the file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\sysdebug32.exe

Let me know if it exists.

Pieter

Yes. It's bad but we will get rid of it. :tazz:

Rightclick the file and check the time it was created.
Then do a FindFiles for files that were ctreated around the same time in that same folder.

Please surf to http://www.billsway.com/vbspage/ and scroll down to
Registry Search Tool
Download, unzip and run RegSrch.vbs
Put sysdebug32.exe in the dialog box.

After a while a prompt will come up. Click OK to write the results to wordpad and post them together with the names of the files you found.

Regards,

Pieter

ok, thanks again metallica.
That file was created on 31st March 2003, which is strange to me, because i bought this system brand new, a year after that date! wierd eh!

sysdebug32.exe is the only file created on that date, i did a search a couple of days either side and found:

- srv.sys (in system32\drivers)
- DLBKLPA.HLP (in system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3)
- DLBKLPA.HLP (in system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\dell_a920fc30)

And here is the file from RegSrch:

REGEDIT4
; RegSrch.vbs © Bill James

; Registry search results for string "sysdebug32.exe" 1/11/2005 17:02:14

; NOTE: This file will be deleted when you close WordPad.
; You must manually save this file to a new location if you want to refer to it again later.
; (If you save the file with a .reg extension, you can use it to restore any Registry changes you make to these values.)
