Hi all. I keep getting popups of Winfixer. When I click on the close button, a new window will pop up. (I have attached pictures below).

Another problem is the morewillsearch.com. Whenever I click on a link, say from yahoo search results, more often than not it will go to the morewillsearch website. I have run spy doctor, adaware, but nothing seems to work. I noticed that there is a cookie on my computer - "compaq_owner@morewillsearh".

I would appreciate any help to get rid of them. I am completely new to these things and I don't know what to do at all. Kindly guide me from the start. Thanks.

We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool, Hijack This. Follow the instructions in step five of this guide, and reply here with your log.

Most of what Hijack This lists lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

Ok thanks for trying. I have a couple other logs that have that file.

Alright I can see your ready to get rid of this so lets get going

Please print these instructions out for use in Safe Mode.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files
  • This will create a VundoFix folder on your desktop.
  • After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
  • Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
  • You will first be presented with a warning.
    It should look like this

    VundoFix V2.15 by Atri
By using VundoFix you agree that you are doing so at your own risk
    Press enter to continue....

  • At this point press enter one time.
  • Next you will see:

Please Type in the filepath as instructed by the forum staff
    and then press enter:

  • At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\jkkli.dll
  • Press Enter to continue with the fix.
  • Next you will see:

Please type in the second filepath as instructed by the forum
    staff then press enter:

  • At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):C:\WINDOWS\system32\ilkkj.*
This will be the vundo filename spelt backwards.
  • Press Enter to continue with the fix.
  • The fix will run then HijackThis will open, if it does not open automatically please open it manually.
  • In HiJackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:
    O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {6DD0BC06-4719-4BA3-BEBC-FBAE6A448152} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\jkkli.dll
    O2 - BHO: Bho - {EFDAC3FE-F44A-4030-8589-1E23BC6573D5} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\aegqhhkk.dll
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: jkkli - C:\WINDOWS\system32\jkkli.dll

  • After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis.
  • Press enter to exit the program then manually reboot your computer.
  • Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below.
Download and install CleanUp!

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
  • Empty Recycle Bins
  • Delete Cookies
  • Delete Prefetch files
  • Cleanup! All Users
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

Then, please run this online virus scan: ActiveScan

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HiJackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic

i tried to go into safe mode but it doesn't seem to work. I select safe mode on the menu that comes out after pressing F8, it goes in and I log in. Then it comes to this black screen that has Windows XP build whatever on the top and safe mode at the corners. but after this, it doesn't load. ie there is no start menu, no icons etc. what do i do?

Hi loophole, thanks for the reply. before i continue with the fix, there is one part that i am not sure about and i thought i should ask you first.

Somewhere in the middle of the fix you provided (below the 3rd quote box), there is this line:
  • At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):

C:\WINDOWS\system2\ilkkj.*
This will be the vundo filename spelt backwards.

My question is, do i type C:\WINDOWS\system32\ilkkj.* exactly, with the asterisk?
Then what is meant by the vundo filename spelt backwards, do I have to include that in the file path? I'm extremely confused.

Also, there is another problem with my PC. I get this Windows Security Update popups. I don't think there are by Microsoft since it is advertising some product. I have attached a screenshot of it. Please have a look at it and advise me further. Thanks.

I tried running activescan, but it seems my avast detects a virus. I have retried 3 times but still the same result. I have attached the screenshot of it:

Relax, we will get you through this :tazz: . These things tend to happen.

Now run the vundo fix again with the exact same instructions (no safemode)

You don't need to run cleanup or the active scan just post the vundofix.txt file from inside the vundo folder and a new Hijack log
