Hi there, I formatted my MOm's hard drive now her monitro will not work. She is using the Windows ME version. SHe has a LCD 17" flat screen. When I turn on the computer I get an error message on the screen telling me that the mode is not supported... What should I do? Any help will be great..

can you boot into safe mode?

While starting your computer tap the F8 key once every second during the memory count up, or during the system spash screen where you see the system maker's name (HP, COMPAQ, DELL....etc.)

This will result in a text based menu. Use the curors/arrorw keys to navigate to SAFE MODE and hit enter.

Does the problem recur in safe mode?

if y ou can boot into safe mode try updating the video drivers

Many newer moniters won't support the old VGA mode and that is probably what you're getting if you don't have the display adapter drivers installed. Go to Device manager and looks at display adapter. If it says "standard VGA" or a yellow question mark, you need to install the drivers. You can use another monitor to do that.
