A couple of weeks ago, my computer caught a trojan horse. At first I just ignored it because I didn't know what it was and when it comes to computers, i am ignorant. I continued to ignore it until I realized it was affecting my computer. My CDRW drive wouldn't work anymore. I couldn't use it at all; no computer games; no burning; absolutely nothing. I told my friend about this problem at school and he suggested for me to buy a new CDRW drive and install it, which I did. I had someone I know try to install the software on my computer, but my computer wouldn't read the drive. So I took the drive out and put my original drive back into my computer. Another friend told me to get rid of the trojan horse and my CDRW could work again and, so I did that. Sadly, it didn't. And now I have no idea what to do? How can I make my original CDRW work or should I buy a new one and install it? When I click the CDRW drive on my computer, its says: "M:/ is no accessible. The device is not ready." My CDRW drive is Hewlett Packard CD-Writer Plus. Can you help me?

That's good advice Tazz but,
Karenlove It is not good to keep
moving and taking out forien objects
On your computer. Going into a computer
Is like going into a jungle where they speak
unknown languages. thier a cord thier a wire thier
every thing must be put into it's proper place, maybe when you
put the original in thier again you hooked up the wrong chords. Don't
worry this happens all the time. Try searching around for a tutorial that
teaches you on how to install hardware(CD Burners) also make sure that the place where you git it from does not sell bad burners because this does happen
I highly dought that the trojan could make it not work. And when it says it is not accesible that kinda means you hooked the wires up wrong If you have any other question Send me a Private Message,or post back

geohicks have you been drinking? <_< That's quite a ramble you have going there.

xxkarenlovexx let's get back to the original problem, and make sure that trojan is gone. How did you remove it?

Next, let's take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log back here with the results.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

The Hi-Jack this is not working right now. <_<

My computer is Hewlett Packard Pavilion 6640C. I remember when my friend opened the case, the CDRW brand is Mitsumi, but that's all I remember.

Noticed a few problems, let's see if fixing these helps.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

Reboot = shut down and restart your computer.

You don't have to disconnect from the Internet, just be sure all your browser windows are closed. <_<
