cd/dvd+r+rw not responding

Hi i ope someone can elp me my cd/dvd+r+rw drive is not reading any disc that i put in it is showing the letter it is under but wen i put a disc in it is not opening do u think if i did a system restore it would resolve this

How old is the drive? Are you a smoker? I would check Device Manager for any problems. You might try uninstalling it and re-installing it. By chance you didn't switch to a different brand of disk.....I've seen them start working again after blowing compressed air over the optical lense.
