Hello Chunk and welcome back to Geeks to Go

Please note that you should have Administrator rights to perform the fixes. Also note that multiple identity PC’s (family PC’s) present a different problem; please tell me if your PC has more than one individual’s setting.

Before we get underway, you may wish to print these instructions for easy reference during the fix, although please be aware that many of the required URLs are hyperlinks in the red names shown on your screen. Part of the fix may require you to be in Safe Mode, which will not allow you to access the internet, or my instructions!

I can only see one piece of malware in your log and it appears to fit the bill. Here’s some info for you: http://www.sophos.co...w32sdbotzl.html and here: http://securityrespo...an.analogx.html

You must satisfy yourself that this is the problem file. Please give me info on your ISP so that I can check your servers in the 017 entries. To be sure, please do the WinPfind scan also.

Anyway, here’s the fix. NB~I have only killed the file and not the folder as I am not certain if you downloaded the legitimate version AnalogueX.

I note that you are running HijackThis from Desktop; please create a new folder for it (for example C:\Program Files\Hijackthis\Hijackthis.exe) and move the programme into it. It is very important you do this before anything else since backup files can be deleted if they are not within their own folder!

Download:
Killbox by Option^Explicit

Please install Killbox by Option^Explicit.

*Extract the programme to your desktop and double-click on its folder, then double-click on Killbox.exe to start the programme.
*In the Killbox programme, select the Delete on Reboot option.
*Copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

C:\Program Files\AnalogX\Proxy\proxy.exe

*Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

*Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "Yes" at the reboot now prompt..

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again.

Download:WinPFind

Right Click the Zip Folder and Select "Extract All"

Don't use it yet!

Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

From the WinPFind folder-> Doubleclick WinPFind.exe and Click "Start Scan"

It will scan the entire System, so please be patient!

One you see "Scan Complete"-> a log (WinPFind.txt) will be automatically generated in the WinPFind folder.

Restart normally and post the contents of WinPFind.txt

Hello again Alex

I haven't come up with anything yet, although I haven't had all the replies yet.

Any more problems from your ISP?

I received this suggestion; worth a try.

Download:
RKFiles.zip

Create a new folder called C:\Antispyware\RKFiles

Extract the contents of RKFiles.zip into this new RKFiles folder.

Please now reboot into safe mode. Here's how:

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap the F8 key. A menu should appear where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Open the C:\Antispyware\RKFiles folder * Locate and double-click the RKFILES.BAT to run this tool.
* Sit back and wait until it has finished.
* When it is finally finished a text file will open.
* Save the contents of that text file.

N.B.: It should save by default to C:\Log.txt

Reboot back to Normal Mode

Hello Alex

I can't think why I missed this suggestion; it is very sensible:

install a firewall and see what is connecting or sending & block it then you stand a chance.

A good firewall for that would be Sygate Personal Firewall http://www.tucows.com/preview/213160 Start by blocking everything, then as requested, allow one application at a time to communicate until you find which one is doing the damage.

Did you run the RKfiles scanner. Rootkits are notoriously difficult to see.
