[Prozac66]

Hello. I keep getting random popups from sites like secwave and a few others. I've ran Spybot, Ad-Aware, Spyblaster, and even tried blocking it with my HOSTS file, but all that did was display the 'page cannot be displayed' page. This is been happening for a while and I cannot seem to get rid of the annoying thing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have looked through your HJT log and can see nothing emarkable about it. I suspect that you are suffering from the same thing as 99% of people surfing the web, pop-ups and pop-unders.

I have just two suggestions, either a good pop-up blocker that is compatible with your browser or change to Firefox with its built-in pop-up blocker (but even then you'll get an occasional one).

Hello, thank you for the help and advice. I was using Avant Browser, which has a built in pop-up blocker, but obviously it hasn't been working to well. I'll start using Firefox to see if the problem stops. It's quite annoying getting popups at Google! Thanks again.

Let me know how you get on. I don't think that there is a perfect answer to them. Advertisers will work out ways to get their message across come what may.

Actually, I just got another one of the weird pop-ups searching Google again (using Firefox). But I'm in such a habit of closing them I didn't get time to see if it was a box from IE or Firefox. Because even when using Avant, it would open in a seperate IE window, and not in Avant. Oh well, at least I don't have any keyloggers or trojans!

If I am to find something on my computer that I think may need removing, should I continue to post here or start a new topic? Thanks again.

From what you describe, you perhaps an unseen programme in your startup.

Please RIGHT-CLICK HERE to download Silent Runner's.

• Save it to the desktop.
• Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
• You will receive a prompt:
  • Do you want to skip supplementary searches?
    click NO
• You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done, let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
• Once you receive the prompt All Done!, open the text file on the desktop, copy that entire log, and paste it here.
