My gut reaction is that it might, but it will be very problematic since you are pushing so much data across refreshing the desktop that it would be unworkable.
You may have better luck trying to do this if you run Sims in a window (there is likely a command line switch, like "sims.exe -w" to achieve this.
I have had some luck troubleshooting games this way
