First of all, can your mobo handle a gig of ram per slot??

i have a matsonic ms8177c rev:1.1, ot sure if it can take a gig

According to the Matsonic website, your mobo supports the following..
Memory
Supports two 184-pin DDR DIMM maximum size up to 2GB.
Support DIMMs of DDR400 / DDR333 / DDR266
Where did you buy your ram from??
Have you tried putting it in Slot 1 (closest to the CPU)??
Does the speed match the ram already in??
Have you tried using JUST the new ram??

if you right click on my computer then properties, what does it say there as far as ram?
also what does it say during post?

i bought the ram from a local shop, i did try the ram in the first slot but im ot suyre if i had it in correctly, my original stick (256) was 400mhz i think, its too late to open up ma p.c now, ill try it in the morning. ty

well i dont know why how or when, but i turned my p.c on and it was working with the 1gig of ram, and it was being recognized, for those of you who play world of warcraft, BRING ON IRONFORGE!
