When starting windows, Ddhelp stops responding and brings windows to a halt
I have also noticed this program loading twice

The 'wonderful' e-machines now refuses to let me check my e-mail or do much of anything

I believe this is the end result of a few days of slowdown

I have just recently updated the drivers for the graphics card, and downloaded the latest version of direct-x..other than that..ive not done anything out of the ordinary

Install the program and launch it.

First, in the main window, look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now and download the latest reference files.

Next, we need to configure Ad-aware for a full scan.

1. In the General window make sure the following are selected:

• Automatically save log-file
• Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal
• Safe Mode (always request confirmation)

2. Click on the Scanning button on the left and select :

• Include additional file information
• Include environment information

-> Click the Tweak button and select:

• Under the Cleaning Engine:
  • Let Windows remove files in use at next reboot

Keep Avenue. I googled it and didn't find anything on it, so I assumed it was bad. My bad.

About the other, read this from Answers That Work:

Machine Debug Manager. Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/2003. This is used purely by Technically Advanced Users and Developers, and in very specific cases at that. It is not needed in most normal day-to-day uses of a PC.

Recommendation :
There is a bug with MDM where it will regularly create zero-length temporary files in the Windows folder and not delete them. If you do not do regular housekeeping you can end up with hundreds of such files. On Windows 95/98/ME, disable or best, delete this startup on the Startups tab of The Ultimate Troubleshooter. On Windows 2000/XP/2003, go to the Services tab of The Ultimate Troubleshooter and change the Startup Mode of this service to Manual. Note, in Windows 95/98*admin MDM has a way of restarting of its own when Windows encounters certain conditions – to prevent it from starting altogether many advanced users, ourselves included, resort to renaming MDM.EXE to MDM.EXE.OLD; that solves the problem permanently.

It's up to you. It only stops it from the start-up process. It will still be there, it just will quicken your start-up when you boot your machine.

The problem is still happening..although my system does start faster..also i accidentally said Ddhelp was running multiple times..this is incorrect..Rundll32 is running multiple times..if i close these down on startup ddhelp never starts, but i still cant play games or anything

Please explain about the ddhelp/rundll32 situation. Are you getting an error message?

no error messages at all...

At the very beginning of startup, if you hit Ctrl-Alt-Del before the desktop loads, atleast two rundll32's are present..if these are shut down ddhelp will not start, and wont lock up the system, but you still cant play games or do much of anything..if rundll32 is not shut down, ddhelp loads up and when crtl-alt-del is hit it shows that ddhelp stops responding. Ddhelp brings the system to a complete halt (mouse barely moves, nothing can be clicked on..ect), but Ctrl-Alt-Del can still be pressed, but takes a long while to come up, and doesnt necessairly always work

also, my second harddrive didnt load up once or twice but i think this is a seperate problem as it has happened once or twice before(it eventually loads up if you restart the computer)
