The first thing that you need to do is download this. It is a file that is going to make a Windows 98 BootDisk. After its done downloading run the .exe, you are going to need a blank floppy, or one that you dont care that gets deleted. After that is done then you need to restart the computer, with the floppy disk in. After the restart, if you come back to the desktop then we are going to need to change the BIOS to boot from the floppy before the harddrive. If not, then skip the next paragraph.

To do this you need to press on of these F1, F2, F10, DEL during POST. One of them should get you in the BIOS, then you need to use the arrow keys and highlight something called Boot, Startup, or something close to these. Under that should be something like 1st Boot, 2nd Boot, and so on to 4th Boot. Change 1st Boot to Floppy or 3.5 Disk, 2nd Boot to CDROM, 3rd Boot to HardDrive. To change these you need to use the Arrow keys, Enter key with the Arrow keys, +or - keys. Sorry for not being able to help you step-by-step, b/c all BIOS are different.

You should come to a black screen were there list, select the one that has no CDROM support. Now the floppy is loading programs in to RAM, after that is done you should come to a blank screen with A:\ type fdisk.

The screen should look like this:

A:\fdisk

You will come to a screen with alot of text press Enter. You should came to a screen that has five options. Press 4 and then press Enter. Press 1 and then Enter. You should now be at a screen with a spreadsheet table like on the upper-half of the screen. There should be a mumber to the far left (1) press 1 and then enter for the lable name (or what ever the lable is under the coul. Lable, if blank press Enter). It is going to ask you if you are sure, press Y and then Enter. Keep pressing ESC intill you get to the screen with:

A:\

Now press Ctrl, Alt, Del, this should restart the system. Again select the option with no CDROM support. Now a screen is going to come up saying that you might have a virus, or no FAT table this is normal. You will come to a black screen with A:\ type fdisk again.

The screen should look like this:

A:\fdisk

You will come to a screen with alot of text press Enter. You should came to a screen that has five options. Press 1 and then press Enter. Press 1 and then Enter. It is going to ask you something press either Y or Enter (sorry its been a long time since I have done a Windows 98 install). After it is done it should take you back to the screen with the five options, keep press ESC intill you get to a screen with:

A:\

Now press Ctrl, Alt, Del, this will restart the system. Now this time select the option that HAS CDROM support. When you get to the screen with A:\ type format C:.

The screen should look like this:

A:\format C:

This will format the harddrive. After it is done press Enter, do not enter a lable. Put the Windows 98 CD in the CDROM, type D:.

The screen should look like this:

A:\D:

Now you are in the CD, now you need to type cd win98.

The screen should look like this:

D:\cd win98

Now you need to type setup.

The screen should look like this:

D:\WIN98\setup

This will start the Windows 98 Setup, it will run ScanDisk, let it run and after its done you should be in the Windows 98 Setup GUI. From here follow the setps, and when you are done it all you will have Windows 98 installed. Before you start to do this Print this out so that you have it step by step. Hope that this helps, and reply or PM me with any question.
