Okay, I have a window open and I want to open a separate window. But when I try to open another window, the original window pops up and starts loading. I hate that! I want to be on 2 different sites at the same time, or the same site twice. I've tried everything I know (which ain't much) to try to make it do what I want it to do, but no soap. Can anybody help me?

What browser are you using? You should be able to open as many browser windows as you want.

That's what I thought! It's my mom's comp actually, and she has adelphia. We use the homepage because it has all that protection stuff, but even if I go straight to google or whatever it bounces back to the same window to load.

I suggest you discuss this with your Mom.

Howdy and welcome to G2G:

Are you clicking on a link or on the IE icon on your desktop when you are trying to open a new window??

Desktop icon. Like say I'm looking up something on the web and I want to check my work mailbox for some information. I minimize the window I'm on, click on the shortcut for my work email and the old window pops back up and begins to load the site. That happens with everything.

Okay.. want you to try something here but, first of all are you using the "classic View" for Windows in the start menu ?? (looks like the old Win98, etc start menu) ??

No, not the classic view. It says "modified theme" for the display.

Okay.. open an IE window.. Now, go to Start and click on Internet Explorer (should be showing on the left side) and see what happens.. If it isn't there, go to Start>Programs and click on the Internet Explorer Icon..

Okay, that opened another adelphia browser homepage window and the old window didn't close. Thanks. But why won't it do that with my shortcuts?

The shortcut may be corrupted.. May I suggest deleting the desktop shortcut you have and then go to IE in the Start>Programs menu.. right click on it and select Send To>Desktop (create shortcut)..

Let's see how the new shortcut acts!!

Okay, this is weird. I did what you said and then I could open 2 windows at a time but no more. Then I did it again and I could open 3. Did it again and got 4. The computer got shut down for the night and I rebooted in the morning and everything is back the way it was. ???
