Hi guys

Really hope you can help me out here. I did not know wheter I must post here or in the malware section, because I don't know what is causing the problem and because it involves slow Windows.

I have Windows XP Home edition, and use Norton antivirus as well as ZoneAlarm. About two days ago my computer just got painfully slow for no apparent reason. I have a Pentium 4 with 512MB RAM, but with windows running with only for instance Mozilla, Taskmanager shows 100% computer usage. Even browsing through files in My Computer is painfully slow and scrolling is very slow. Also just typing sometimes shows delays. I tried Spybot S&D, Spysweeper, and updated Norton. All removed a lot of files but the problem is still there. Norton still has some files it can't delete, but it doesn't look harmful. Spybot finds nothing.

Here is my Hijackthis log:

thanks in advance guys! I already checked every running process in taskmanager, but can't find any that are obviously malicious. Also, when running a game, the game runs smoothly once it starts. But using windows programs and stuff like mozilla and IE is super slow.

Would aprecciate any help
Regards

Hi Promojo!

Please take at look at this link and follow the steps for removing malware from your computer. If your computer is still slow after doing all the steps indicated, then please post a HiJackThis log in the Malware Forum.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to THIS thread and we will consider other options to help you solve your problem.
