I have the trojan.vundo adware. I have norton installed and used the remover tool from Norton but that doesn't do the job...I tried spybot, ad-aware, and online virus scan (can't remember the place). I am unable to get rid of the virus.

The file norton points to is: E:\WINNT\System32\byxya.dll

I looked at other Vundo posts but since the .dll file is different...I just wanted to make sure there isn't anything else wrong...since it is a different file.

All help is appreciated...thanks.

Welcome Unknown_Hero_Cheese to Geeks to Go!

Let's do this first.

Remove MyWebSearch:
Move to Start > Settings > Control Panel
Double click Add/Remove Programs.
Within Add/Remove programs click the "Install/Uninstall" tab or click the "Change or Remove Programs" button.
Within this section you will see a listing of programs that are currently installed that support this feature. If the program I’m advising you to uninstall is listed within this list, highlight it and click the Add/Remove or uninstall option or button.

***

I suggest you remove NewDotNet unless you deliberately installed it. It is extremely dubious and commercially sponsored:

First, please open Add/Remove programs and uninstall New.Net or NewDotNet from there if listed. If it is not listed, follow these instructions:

· From a computer that has Internet access, click on the following link:
http://www.new.net/s...install6_76.exe.
· Download and save uninstall6_76.exe to Local Disc C
· Click on Start.
· Click on Run.
· In the Open window type, C:\uninstall6_76.exe.
· Click on the OK button.
· After removal, you may be prompted to reboot. Please reboot if not prompted.

***

Please post back with a fresh HijackThis log to remove Vundo.

EDIT:
As there has been no reply from the original poster for more than two weeks this topic is now closed.

If you are the original poster and still need assistance, please send me a PM.
