I followed the directions of things to do before posting and that got rid of a good deal of my issues. I found all kinds of bugs including BookedSpace, VirtualBouncer, VX2, Alexa, and BroadcastPC using your methods and believe I got rid of most of them. However, when I scan with Ewido it constantly finds "Spyware.PSGuard" and is unable to get rid of it. Off and on the PC will totally lock up as soon as I press any button on the keyboard and that has been a real pain. I can click things with the mouse all day long, but as soon as I press a single button the keyboard...total freeze up. This has probably been happening about 80% of the time, I think whatever is causing this keeps resurfacing as I try to remove it. Anyway, here are my Ewido and HiJackThis logs:

Welcome raikyaku to Geeks to Go!

There's still a whole bunch of baddies around to get ride of.

Let's get started, we'll do it piece by piece.

Please download LQfix.exe and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-Click LQfix.exe and click Next > Next > Install.
  • Leave the default settings, if you change them, the fix will Fail!
  • Now make sure the "Launch LQfix" box is checked.
  • Click the Finish button, after clicking the Finish button the fix will start.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts.
  • Your system will now reboot afterwards.
  • Please be patient after the reboot, there is a script running in the background that needs to complete.
Now do a scan with HiJackThis and post a new log by using Add Reply

You are running HijackThis from the Desktop.
Please create a new folder for it and move the program into the new folder.

***

Please remove Windows AFA Internet Enhancement
Move to Start > Settings > Control Panel
Double click Add/Remove Programs.
Within Add/Remove programs click the "Install/Uninstall" tab or click the "Change or Remove Programs" button.
Within this section you will see a listing of programs that are currently installed that support this feature. If the program I’m advising you to uninstall is listed within this list, highlight it and click the Add/Remove or uninstall option or button.

***

Go to Start->Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the service called:

Command Service

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, click the Stop button, then click on properties and under the General Tab, change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok and close any open windows.

Do the same for:
Windows Overlay Components

If you don´t find these services listed go ahead with the next steps.

***

Open HijackThis
click on "None of the above, just start the program".
click on the "Config" button (bottom right),
click on "Misc Tools"
click on "Delete an NT Service" (a window will pop up)
Enter the below item into that field (make sure there are NO spaces before or after the name):

cmdService

Click OK.

It should pull up information about the service, then ask if you want to reboot. Click YES.

***

Download the Killbox.
Unzip it to the desktop

Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Place the following lines (complete paths) in bold in the "Full Path of File to Delete" box in Killbox, and click the red button with the white X on it after each

C:\WINDOWS\xload.exe
C:\WINDOWS\VCMnet11.exe
C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\sysnet.exe
c:\windows\system32\vjfjox.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\d140113.a.Stub.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\system32\memanui2.exe
C:\WINDOWS\T3duZXIA\command.exe
C:\WINDOWS\cveovwb.exe

For these files, put a mark next to "Delete on Reboot". Copy and paste each file into the file name box, then click the red button with the X after each. It will ask you if you want to reboot each time you click it, answer NO until after you've pasted the last file name, at which time you should answer Yes.
Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

***

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
http://www.pchell.co.../safemode.shtml

***

Open HijackThis

OK, I did not see "Windows AFA Internet Enhancement" under my Add/Remove Programs list. However there was a "Windows Overlay Components."
Everything else I followed your instructions on, had some troubles getting the Panda Active Scan to work because IE was not allowing ActiveX controls, but I got that resolved. So, here's Panda Active Scan report followed by the new HiJackThis log:

You ran the SpyXposer. The link to the Active Scan is in the right hand corner on that page.

The link below will take you directly to the Panda ActiveScan scan page. You just need to accept the ActiveX download then click "Local Disks" to start the scan.
=> Panda active scan

Remove this program:
Windows Overlay Components
using the software panel.

***

Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Place the following lines (complete paths) in bold in the "Full Path of File to Delete" box in Killbox, and click the red button with the white X on it after each

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Favorites\Buy Viagra Online.url
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Sskknwrd.dll
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Favorites\Spyware Remover.url
C:\Program Files\Cas\Client\Uninstall.exe
C:\Program Files\MBKWBar\MBKWBar.exe
C:\WINDOWS\cfgmgr52.ini
C:\WINDOWS\inf\btgrab.inf
C:\WINDOWS\inf\farmmext.inf
C:\WINDOWS\system32\bose.ico
C:\WINDOWS\system32\InstallerV3.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ptainfo1.ico
C:\WINDOWS\system32\Searchx.htm
C:\WINDOWS\system32\tsuninst.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\winupdt.008

For these files, put a mark next to "Delete on Reboot". Copy and paste each file into the file name box, then click the red button with the X after each. It will ask you if you want to reboot each time you click it, answer NO until after you've pasted the last file name, at which time you should answer Yes.
Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

***

I see a leftover for Norton, but no Antivirus program active. I strongly advise you to install one. Here you can find some free one. I'd recommend eTrust.

***

Is the computer running ok?
If so, shall I post you some tips for the future and close this topic?

I do appologize, I missed something. :tazz:

Please read these instructions carefully. You may want to print them. Copy the text to a Notepad file and save it to your desktop! We will need the file later.
Be sure to follow ALL instructions!

Download smitRem.exe version 2.7 and save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the file to extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.

***

Update Ewido to the latest definitions.

***

If you have not already installed Ad-Aware SE 1.06, please download and install AdAware SE 1.06.
Check Here on how setup and use it - please make sure you update it first.

***

Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed.
Post me the contents of the smitfiles.txt log as you post back.

***

Open Ad-aware and do a full scan. Remove all it finds.

***

Now open Ewido Security Suite:* Click on scanner
* Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
* During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK
* When the scan is finished, look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
* Save the report to your desktop
Reboot your computer.

***

Next go to Control Panel click Display > Desktop > Customize Desktop > Web > Uncheck "Security Info" if present.

***

Reboot back into Windows
Run the Free use Panda Active Scan.
  • A new window will open...click the Check Now button
  • Enter your Country
  • Enter your State/Province
  • Enter your e-mail address and click send
  • Select either Home User or Company
  • Click the big Scan Now button
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
  • When download is complete, click on Local Disks to start the scan
  • When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location.
Post the contents of the Panda scan report, along with a new HijackThis Log, the contents of smitfiles.txt and the Ewido Log by using Add Reply.

I really thought I did the tool earlier. Lukely our expert Noahdfear saw I didn't :tazz:

Please remove these two:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Favorites\Cheap Viagra.url
C:\WINDOWS\system32\winupdt.bin

Also empty your recycle bin and reboot.

Now for real: is the computer running ok?

OK, I removed those 2 files and then I shut down and a few minutes later rebooted. Locked up again. I was able to boot into safe mode and I ran spybot and it showed the following:

Windows Security Center.AntiVirusDisableNotify
Windows Security Center.AntiVirusOverride
Windows Security Center.FirewallDisableNotify
Windows Security Center.UpdateDisableNotify

Spybot seems to be the only thing that detects these...and they keep reappearing.
I then scanned with ewido and the 4 or 5 things that it was showing before are now gone (whew). However, it listed a new threat.

So, I'll post the ewido log and a new hijackthis log.

As for Spybot's findings:

If you do not use the Windows Firewall or ICS --
1/ You can go into: Start|Control Panel|Administrative Tools|Services|
2/ Find this service --> Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing(ICS)
3/ Right-click & select properties -
4/ On General Screen set --> Startup Type: Manual -
5/ Click --> Stop <-- to stop the Service
6/ Verify Service Status: Stopped

that should get ride of the message.

Ewido finds a cookie, that's not a problem. You can remove those anytime.

***

Do remove this entry in HijackThis:
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = http://www.abetterin...om/policies.htm

You don't want that one, believe me!

Change your homepage to something usefull.

Other than that, the HijackThis log looks clean.

I see there's still a bit let from Norton. Can you tell me what version you were using? I think there may be more leftovers from the uninstall.
