Hi, this has been a trouble for quite a while now. Whenever I want to uninstall programs, I usually try to go to Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs, but it keeps giving an error on how there's no programs detected on the computer and I can't uninstall them even though they are listed in the Add/Remove Programs list box.

Here's the error it gave me:

An unexpected error occured.

Class not registered

Res://appwiz.cpl/listbox.htc
Line: 225

I've been bypassing this for some time now with uninstalling by the executables in the programs folder itself but some programs I can't remove like that and it's become very annoying. Can you help me? Thanks in advance! :tazz:

Click start, all programmes, accessories, system tools to run disc clean up, then from system tools, run disc defragmenter.

Click start then run, type sfc /scannow then press enter, you need the XP CD and get a blue progress bar, after the bar goes, reboot.

Click start then run, type chkdsk /f /r then press enter, type Y to confirm for next boot, press enter then reboot.

This will take an hour, it will appear to load normally then either the monitor will show progress or the screen will go blank, do not disturb this.

When it gets to the desktop, the system files and the hard drive will be as they should

If no change

Please go here to repair your operating system

Repair XP

If you are unable to run XP Repair

Alternate XP Repair Guide

Use the last one - Windows Installation CD to repair the current installation, which uses a slightly different method

Windows XP repair feature won't delete your data, installed programs, personal information, or settings. It just repairs the operating system

After running the repair it will be necessary to install all Windows Updates

Please accept my apologies for not checking the OS which is listed

This deals with the recovery console for 2000

http://www.microsoft...dc_rec_ztkn.asp

On the left, click using the recovery console

This deals with sfc for 2000

http://support.micro...kb;en-us;222471

If you click start then run, type sfc /scannow it should run, if not, type sfc /scanonce which may require you to reboot after confirming you want it to run
