I was wondering if anyone can help me. I can't view some web pages. All I get is the little box in the upper right hand corner of the image boxes that looks like a little movie projector. Very frustrating!

Welcome scheizabelle :D!

You need the proper plug-in to view some parts of webpages. To see what plug-ins you currently have, we'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log back here with the results.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results. <_<

Once we see the plug-ins you have, then we can tell you what plug-ins you need.

It's probably your ActiveX settings in explorer that are preventing it from installing. On your Internet Explorer toolbar select Tools -> Internet Options, Select the Security tab, and move the slider to medium.

If that doesn't work try the FAQ: http://macromedia.co...s/playerfaq.htm

I had a similar problem with several downloads...
I suggest the following programs... (all of them):
Spybot S&D (activate the tea timer if you can deal with pop ups)
Lavasoft Ad Aware
Spyware Blaster
Bazooka (it's an anti spy program)
A2 (A Squared)
Proport (even if you have an anti trojan it offers several other features)
A decent firewall...

Now go to trend micro and run the free scan (no web site since I don't want to get in trouble)
Now go to Panda active scan and run it (same as above)
Now Symantec online scan (run both the security check and virus scan)
Now search for 5 hours for any other free online scanners and run them :D (seriously).

This should help with all file download problems except for the security settings on your Internet Options.

Why would ANYONE run 5 different antispy programs??
Simple try running them all and see how each one picks up different problems. Even run them all at once and see how many of the problems are ignored by each program.
