Hi all, this is my first post.

I've looked through all the posts on this forum and didn't see a previous reference to my problem.

I'm using Windows XP Home Edition on a PC. A window titled: windows\system32\winctr~1.exe has started to pop up on my screen at approximate ten minute intervals ... it's most annoying.

Can anyone instruct me on how to eliminate this?

Hi Lmo! Welcome to G2G!

From what I have researched, it appears that your problem is malware related, so please go and run the self-help tools located HERE. If you are still having problems after running all the tools on that page, then please post a HiJackThis log in the Malware Forum.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options for helping you solve your current problem.
