At work, I manage a very simple website on a UNIX svr. Some of the users are asking me to put together a web page that they can post pieces of data for each account they're working on. They want to be able to add, edit, and/or delete the information.

I'm inexperienced and know only html and some perl. I don't have a budget to get software to handle this.

Any suggestions as to how to start i.e., what programs would be best for this and how to set it up?

Thanks.

well sounds like you need to have information stored in a database, be able to retrieve that information, edit it, delete it, and display it.

If i was going to do this, i would use a mysql databse and use php to communicate with the databse.

Now I'm pretty sure you need to install apache on your unix server in order to run mysql and php.

Thanks for the direction. That's what I needed to get started. I'll check to see if Apache is installed on the server. I believe it is.

At this point I don't know enough to ask you detailed questions on this so I'll have to look into finding documentation on mysql and php. Time for me to do some work.

I appreciate your help.

Take care.
