Download Brute Force Uninstaller.
Unzip it to a folder of it’s own (c:\BFU).
Read here how to unzip/extract properly:
http://metallica.gee...xplanation.html
Start the Brute Force Uninstaller by doubleclicking BFU.exe

Next to the 'scriptfile to execute'-window you'll see a little icon as shown in next picture: Posted Image
When you click that icon, a little window will open that says: 'Please enter the full URL to the sript you want to execute'
In the field, copy and paste next URL:

http://metallica.geekstogo.com/p2pnetwork.bfu

Click Ok
Then click execute in Brute Force Uninstaller.

Wait for the complete script execution box to popup and press OK.
Press exit to terminate the BFU program.

Hi,

I am afraid you did something wrong though... and more infections are present.
We really have to solve this problem with the Alcan worm first, because we won't be able to run other tools properly to get rid of some other nasty infections present on your system.

Ok, let's check something...

As I have already instructed before, normally you must have a folder called BFU on your C:\ (because that's where I asked you to unzip the folder to)
Make sure it is not called BFU.zip, because that is the unextracted one.
In that case, extract/unzip it.

So, open that BFU-folder which is present on your C:\
In that folder, there must be a file called BFU.exe.
If you performed my instructions in the right way, in that same folder, there must also be a file called p2Pnetwork.bfu
If that file is not present, download it from here:
http://metallica.gee.../p2pnetwork.bfu (rightclick on it and choose save and save it in your C:\BFU-folder
So, after performing that, next MUST be present in your BFU-folder:

*BFU.exe
*P2Pnetwork.bfu

When both are present, doubleclick BFU.exe
Next to the scriptfile to execute-field, you'll see an icon of a folder.
Click that icon.
This will give you the opportunity to browse. By default, the main BFU-folder will open.
Select p2Pnetwork.bfu and choose OK.
You'll see that now, in the scriptfile to execute-field, P2Pnetwork.bfu is in there.
Then Click Execute in BFU.exe.
This will start the tool.

After performing above, perform next, because this step is really important:

Please download WebRoot SpySweeper from HERE (It's a 2 week trial):
  • Click the Free Trial link under to "SpySweeper" to download the program.
  • Install it.
  • Once the program is installed, it will open.
  • It will prompt you to update to the latest definitions, click Yes.
  • Once the definitions are installed, click Sweep Now on the left side.
  • Click the Start button.
  • When it's done scanning, click the Next button.
  • Make sure everything has a check next to it, then click the Next button.
  • It will remove all of the items found.
  • Click Session Log in the upper right corner, copy everything in that window and save in in Notepad and place it on your desktop.
  • Click the Summary tab and click Finish.
  • REBOOT (Really important!!)
  • Paste the contents of the session log you copied into your next reply together with a new hijackthislog.

Great!!

Let's see what comes back afterwards:

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

REBOOT

Perform an onlinescan with panda: (please use this scanner instead of any other scanner!)
Panda Online
Check: All my computer
Make sure everything is checked in the scan options.
Afterwards, when the scan is done, you'll get the option to save the report/log

Post the log/results from the onlinescan in your next reply together with a new hijackthislog.

I see a clean log here. :tazz:

Just some small things to perform..

Delete next folders:

C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\InetGet
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Favorites\Casino & Carrers

*Go to start > run and type: cleanmgr and click ok.
Let it scan your system for files to remove.
Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle Bin are the only things checked.
Press OK to remove them.

Please download NTrights.zip by freeatlast.
Save it on your desktop.
Unzip/extract it.
Read here how to unzip/extract properly:
http://metallica.gee...xplanation.html
Open the NTrights-folder
Double click on the Debug.bat file to run it, follow any prompts it asks.

Reboot and doubleclick Debug.bat again. It will create a log.
Copy the log and post it.

Also, I assume you know next?

C:\Program Files\Southwest Airlines\Ding\Ding.exe

Did you install that yourself? Southwest Airlines
What does this program do?

Yes, your above log is clean :tazz:

Perform a full scan with an updated Adaware SE and/or Spybot S&D to get rid of some leftovers if still present.
If you don't have those programs yet, you can find the downloadlocations in my sig.

To keep this clean in the future, I would suggest the following things:

Install Spywareblaster
SpywareBlaster doesn`t scan and clean for so-called spyware, but prevents it from being installed in the first place. It blocks the popular spyware ActiveX controls, and also prevents the installation of any of them via a webpage.

Avoid illegal sites, because that's where most malware is present.

Let your antispywarescanner(s) scan frequently and don't forget to update before.

And I do suggest you perform an online virusscan once in a while. (Housecall and/or Bitdefender). Because what one virusscanner can't find another one maybe can.
Also make sure that your virusscanner, the one that is installed on your system is always up to date!

Make sure your windows has the latest updates: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

If you are having XP SP2, read here how to configure Security Features for Internet Explorer:
http://www.microsoft...xp/iesecxp.mspx

More info on how to prevent malware you can also find here (By Tony Klein)

Happy surfing again! :)

THANK YOU !!! :tazz:

I had tried a peer to peer program that was supposed to be safe ( pHex) to download music. I guess i have to pay for it like everyone else.

I appreciate the help from the other side of the globe..

Glad I could help.

Read here what P2P programs are clean and are infected:
http://www.spywarein...m/articles/p2p/

Although, it shows that pHex is safe there. But there are other free ones also which are clean. :tazz:
