Topic- WEBCAM Issues
Date- 25th Oct-2005
Here is my 1st thoughts –See if this helps -
What is the interface Connection - [USB] - or - [COM PORT]
If it is USB - You need:
1- Motherboard USB Support
2- USB [Enabled] BIOS
3- USB Drivers - The drivers for WIN2K is on the SP1 or SP2 Installation
To find out what Service Pack - that is installed -
1- Right Click [My Computer]
2- Click on [Properties]
3- Click on [Gereral] Tab
This should display
1- Operating System
2- OS REV
3- Service Pack installed
4- Registration
5- Key Code
6- CPU Info
7- RAM installed
To search your computer or Friend’s PC for USB Drivers -
1- Click [Start]
2- Highlight [Search]
3- Click [For Files or Folders]
4- Type - *usb*.sys - in the [Files or Folders Named] Section
5- This should list all USB Drivers loaded on PC
6- You are probably looking for something like usbcamd.sys or usbwcamsys or similar
You can locate the Driver on Friend's PC - Copy it on CD - when PnP asks for CD Installation Disk - Insert the Copy - & install -
Or go to the WebCam Web Page & download WIN2K WebCam USB driver from the web site
The only other item required would be an [APPLICATION] that can utilize the [WebCam]

Thanks for the help, I was able to find a driver for it online. But it turns out that my computer isn't good enough to make up for the fact that the webcam is a very ancient model. Can anyone recommend a good webcam brand to purchase? Affordability is of the essence, but I have no idea what the average webcam goes for.
