[primulas]

i beleive poka poka is causing the popups. i'v run adaware,spybot,adware away, as well as win patrol. both in regular and safe mode. rebooting after each.

no worries, was prolly partially my fault. i acidently multiposted it, because of my mozilla messing up. here's new hijackthis log. also i moved the hijackthis directory to c:\ before i ran it, cause i read somewhere that was preferable to running it from a directory on my desktop. Thanks very much in advance. I have the popups i had before, and now i also seem to have some poker popups. Both will open up when i'm not even browsing the web. Always inturupts counter striek too

Sorry for the delayed response! Please download LQfix.exe from one of the following locations:

http://miekiemoes.ge...tools/LQfix.exe

Save it to your desktop.

• Double-Click LQfix.exe and click Next > Next > Install.
• Leave the default settings, if you change them, the fix will Fail!
• You need an active Internet connection, so make sure your connection is enabled.
• Now make sure the "Launch LQfix" box is checked.
• Click the Finish button, after clicking the Finish button the fix will start.
• Follow the on-screen prompts.
• Your system will reboot afterwards.
• Please be patient after the reboot, there is a script running in the background that needs to complete.

Then do a scan with HJT and post a new log by using Add Reply

Ok, I didn't notice your antispyware applications running. Please disable SpySweeper, as it may hinder the removal of some entries. You can re-enable it after you're clean.

To disable SpySweeper:

• Open it click >Options over to the left then >Program Options >Uncheck "load at windows startup".
• Over to the left click "shields" and uncheck all there.
• Uncheck "home page shield".
• Uncheck "automatically restore default without notification".

I notice that you have Spybot's TeaTimer running. While this is normally a wonderful tool to protect against hijackers, it can also interfere with HijackThis fixes. So please disable TeaTimer by doing the following:
1) Run Spybot-S&D
2) Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
3) On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
4) Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts
You can reenable TeaTimer once your system is clean.

Once you have made these changes, can you run the previous instructions I gave and post a new HJT log?

  • Spybot-Search & Destroy. A tutorial on using Spybot to remove spyware from your computer may be found here. Please also remember to enable Spybot's "Immunize" and "TeaTimer" features. You have this installed currently. Please keep it updated and run it on a regular basis.
  • SpywareBlaster. A tutorial on using SpywareBlaster to prevent spyware from ever installing on your computer may be found here.
  • SpywareGuard. A tutorial on using SpywareGuard for realtime protection against spyware and hijackers may be found here.
  Keeping these programs up-to-date and running them regularly can prevent a great deal of spyware hassle.
• Please consider using an alternate browser. Mozilla's Firefox browser is fantastic; it is much more secure than Internet Explorer, immune to almost all known browser hijackers, and also has the best built-in popup blocker (as an added benefit!) that I have ever seen. If you are interested, Firefox may be downloaded from here.
• Also make sure to run your antivirus software regularly, and to keep it up-to-date.
• Finally, consider maintaining a firewall. Some good free firewalls are ZoneAlarm, Sygate, or
  Outpost

Ok I am going to check with the fix's author to see if we have a new variant here. I will be back with you when I get a response.

Ok, it looks like TeaTimer may be putting the entries back in. I can't find any indications as to how to clear TeaTime's cache, so we will have to do it the hard way. First, uninstall Spybot S&D. Then, run HJT and remove the O4 entry again, as well as the O16s. Reboot your computer, then reinstall Spybot and post a new HJT log.
