Hello. I recently upgraded my OS to Windows XP pr from Home edition on my HP machine and suddenly I am getting this error message at startup: "Run-time error '429'. ActiveX component can't create object. and it is in a message box with ptrun32 in the title bar. There are 2 ptrun32.exe processes running in Task Manager as well as a ptr32w.exe process. Also, Updates from HP Agent is constantly running now unless I kill it. I never installed AIM Parent tools but saw it in my list of programs so I uninstalled it. Still the ptrun32.exe processes remain. Have I been infected with something? Thanks for your help.

infected with AIM, but that's probably just my take on it.

Try removing AIM completely and see what happens
