Hi,
New to this forum and hoping for a reply. I have a MSI MS-6382 (e) M.B. used on a 'Time' machine (no manual). XP Pro O.S. I wish to upgrade to USB 2. I have USB 1 and with only 3 PCI slots on the board it means that are all in use, is there any other way I can attach the new version? Are the USB the leads used between PC and Hardware the same as used with both types or are the ends or cable thicker? Thanks.
Regards,
Lee

Welcome Hotshot <_<

You'll have to add a USB 2.0 PCI expansion card. The cables are all the same, but the headers on your motherboard can't be made USB 2.0 compatible.

Hi,
Thanks for the welcome and the info. It's going to be difficult as with the limited available PCI slots on the board all full I'm going to have to get rid of something.
I have a PCI 'raid' card fitted with spare IDE slots available. Is there any thing that would change a USB 2 to IDE? Just a long shot. Thank again for the help.
Regards,
Lee

Sorry, I don't know of anything else, other than a new motherboard. <_<

Hi No1,
Thanks for your reply. It's complected to work out the physical differences between USB 1 and USB 2. All we need now is another format to make things
slimplier. USB 3?, Firewire 2? Thanks for your help and advise.
Best Wishes,
Lee
