If you have a firewall you can disable it there.

Hi

I'm not sure what you mean <_<

I want to limit permissions on my comp, but first I need to disable 'simple file sharing', found at my computer>tools>folder options>view> - there is supposed to be something here for me to untick to disable it but there isnt???

I dont understand what that has to do with the firewall :D

Welcome trixie <_<

You seem to be going to the correct location. Be sure you've selected the View tab, then under Advanced Settings scroll down to Use simple file sharing (Recommended). On my computer its five lines from the bottom.

I have some bad news, you cannot disable simple file sharing under Windows XP Home Edition. <_<

"Windows XP Home Edition-based computers always have Simple File Sharing enabled."

Can I ask why you were trying to disable it? Are you actually wanting to disable file and printer sharing?

Hi

I'm just learning about my computer and seen this thought I could try it as I have a toddler who loves the computer but presses buttons wildly :D

She has been known to access the internet and mess with some other things and I felt a limited account just wasn't enough.

Plus I just wanted to try it out <_<
