When I turned on my computer there was a message windows\system32\config\system
is missing or corrupt. I tried using repair console as instructed on the microsoft website.
I typed in the first two lines with success, and then the copy c:\windows\system32\config\sam c:\windows\tmp\sam.bak, I hit enter and it said that file could not be found. Now I'm not sure what to try next. I would really appreciate any help, Thanks

Try to get the sam.bak file from your microsoft disk? Or is that your back up file? I'm not really sure but I think that is a backup file. :tazz:

I'm assuming you are running Windows XP. Can you give some more information about the error message.

This site might be a little more helpful than the Microsoft site. It is a very long web page and you need to read all the way through. There are several options for repair.

Ask if you need to know more.
