Internet "Ping" problem in Call of Duty 2.

Whenever i join a server, doesnt matter if its 4 people or 32 people, whenever i start running around more, my ping will jump, and when im spectating, it will usally stay low, but sometimes it will jump to 600, usally around 80-90 when im not doing anything, but when running around 190-250.

On Texas servers in the first CoD (call of duty), i would get max 85...

Also, back in Call of Duty my ping never jumped, and i could actually be able to shoot at things, with this ping, its unplayable.

I have a cable modem, Roadrunner is the ISP.

what should i do?
