Hi-
I've been having a case of annoying incessant pop-ups promoting either winfixer or winantivirus pro2005- judging by previous posts, this is a Vundo problem or Virtumonde (as detected, but not removed) by Panda ActiveScan. I've constantly used both Spybot and Ad-aware, and neither has caught it.
ActiveScan also detected something called Searchcentrix, of which i'm finding hard to hunt down in my system.

Hmm, that's odd. Panda shows it as still present though...

You couldn't find it, so let's take a better look and perform next:

Please set your system to show all files.
Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

Then, Go to start > run and copy and paste next command in the field:

EXPLORER.EXE /select, C:\WINDOWS\system32\gebyy.dll

Click OK

Your explorer will open.
If the file is still present, it will automatically highlight/select gebyy.dll in your explorer.
If nothing is selected, then most probably that file is indeed gone, maybe already deleted by avast.
If it is there, delete it.

About the "spyware/searchcentrix" that panda detected. That's a key in the registry and normally a scan with an updated Adaware SE and/or Spybot S&D will get rid of it.

i was able to get rid of gebyy.dll
i updated adaware and spybot and ran them... adaware picked up nothing, and spybot gave me an error message in german (zugriffsverletzung bei Adresse 005E2D4E in Modul 'SpybotSD.exe'. Lesen von Adresse 32434531) of which i have no idea what it means. Maybe the update file is corrupt.

About the searchcentrix in the registry...that Panda shows. As long as Panda doesn't show where exactly in the registry we need to search, it's searching without a clue. We can use a registry search tool though, but searchcentrix could be anything. It's actually only an orphaned key that won't do anything. But it won't hurt to scan with ewido though, because it can still find things Panda doesn't flag. Also Registry keys....

So perform next:

* Please download ewido:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
When you run ewido for the first time, you may get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
From the main ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")

* Open Ewido Security Suite
Click on scanner

* Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
* During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK
* When the scan is finished, look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
* Save the report to your desktop

Close Ewido
