Radien, whenever it asks for those files point to the win98 folder, windows will automatically find the files in the right cabinet.

Right, thanks. :) I recently realized that after it prompted me for a few different files. I do find it a bit odd that Windows 98 requires me to tell it where it keeps its vital files on its own install CD, though. :tazz: I guess that's Microsoft for ya.

Y'know, guys... I really appreciate all the help you're giving, but rain or shine, I'm almost certainly going to get a new computer this week. Mostly this is just helping me learn more about Windows. Which is nice, but perhaps I should save it for a piece of hardware that isn't 6+ years old. :) Well, either way, thanks for your help and advice.

Going? Going where? Leaving the forums? Going to get a new computer?

I'm going to go shopping for a new PC tomorrow. :tazz: I suspect I'll take a few days before deciding for certain.

No, it's still got problems... but I don't feel like it's worth fixing them at this point. I've just about had it with Compaq proprietary software and hardware. I've been needing a new computer for years, and I think the time has come to upgrade and get a laptop. I can always install the old hard drive into the new machine, or transfer the data if that fails.
