ParkerVision has released a WiFi kit with a range of 1 mile (in an open field), and it's only $50. You get a PC card and USB adapter and a router in this for $50; I think this is a good price, but with it's range it's great.

I found this on Digg, and it for sale here.

I read some reviews on this and from what I can find, this router isnt worth its weight in salt.

An entire wireless system for 50 bucks isnt bad, but dont purchase it expecting for it to really work 1 mile away.

I prefer to stick with the names I trust :)

I think any wifi is capable of 1-mile, IF you use specialized highly directional antennas. :tazz:

I was thinking of a Pringles can. :tazz:

Over a clear line of sight, with short antenna cable runs, a 12db to 12db can-to-can shot should be able to carry an 11Mbps link well over ten miles.

How did you get this pix of my wireless setup??? :woot:

BTW, the pix should be upside down as I'm using wireless and antenna is in Australia. :)

Great pix. Loved it and fitted in just right for this topic. :)
