Hello; after several antivirus/adware/spyware programs and scans, I hope that I can finally be rid of my problems here. I cannot access any email Web sites, clients, or services (Gmail, MSN, AOL, Yahoo!, Verizon, et al.) So I have used McAfee, Norton, Ad-Aware, Spybot, and some others to fix this. While all of this software has helped clear out almost everything else on my PC, this particular virus(?) that prevents me from email.

My log:

Please print out these instructions or copy them into a text file on your Desktop for easy access.

During the fix, you will be asked to delete some entries or files or uninstall some programs. If in case, you do not see those entries / files / programs, please make a note of it. Continue with the fix and in your next post please inform me of all deviations from the fix prescribed.

1. Download Programs

Please download these programs and save them in a new folder on your desktop -

Download and install CleanUp!

2. Run Hijack This

Run Hijack This and click on scan. The following items need to be fixed -

O2 - BHO: C:\WINDOWS\system32\st3.dll - {1B68470C-2DEF-493B-8A4A-8E2D81BE4EA5} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\st3.dll
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {549B5CA7-4A86-11D7-A4DF-000874180BB3} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {4E7BD74F-2B8D-469E-D0FC-E57AF4D5FA7D} - (no file)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: st3 - C:\WINDOWS\system32\st3.dll

Close all windows other than Hijack This. Check the boxes next to above items and click on Fix checked.

3. Delete Rogue files

Open Windows Explorer (right click on Start and then click on explore). Locate and delete the following file -

C:\WINDOWS\system32\st3.dll

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
  • Empty Recycle Bins
  • Delete Cookies
  • Delete Prefetch files
  • Cleanup! All Users
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

Reboot the PC in Normal Mode.

Please download WebRoot SpySweeper from here:
http://www.webroot.c...6d6f87b866d2848
(It's a 2 week trial)

Click the "Free Trial" link on the right - next to "SpySweeper for Home Computers".
On the next page, click the "Free Trial" button.
Download it and install it.
When you open the program, it will prompt you to update to the latest definitions.
Please do so, then click "Sweep Now"
Then click the "Start" button.
When it's done scanning, click the "Next" button.
Remove everything it finds, then save the log - copy the log and paste it here for me.

Run Hijack This and post a fresh HJT log along with Spy Sweeper scan report.

Forgive me for the late reply; I'm sad to say that viruses are not the only thing that are infecting my life, and making it miserable. Anyway! I followed all of the above instructions, and still I cannot access any email Web sites. Here are my Spy Sweeper and HJT logs:

Please download and install Firefox Mozilla Browser.

Let me know if you are able to access the "restricted sites" on this browser.

If it doesnt then maybe we still have some infection remaining on your PC.

Now Click on start ---> Run. Type in - cleanmgr - and hit enter. In the window which opens, it will ask you to choose your default drive (most likely C:\). Click on OK. It will scan your hard disks for cleaning up and may take a couple of minutes. Be patient.

After the scan is complete, make sure that the boxes next to - Temporary Internet files, Recycle bin and temporary files - are checked and click on OK.

Please download SilentRunners from here:
http://www.silentrun...ent Runners.zip

Unzip it to the desktop and double-click on it.

If you get any kind of warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.

When the scan is finished, a message will pop up and a logfile will have been created on the desktop.

Please post the entire contents of this logfile for me to see.

Please download RootKitRevealer from here:
http://www.sysintern...kitrevealer.zip

Unzip it to the desktop, run it, and click Scan.

This will generate a log file; please post the entire contents of the log file here for me to see.
