Ok, I've removed it from my computer. I was thinking of re-installing microsoft internet explorer. Do you think that would work?? The only thing is that I can't seem to un-installed the current ie. since when downloading, it says that it detects a newer version is installed and setup can not continue.

Thanks,

Ivy

Don't try to uninstall IE. I will be away today with my job. Will check back later tonight. Try Ewido in safe mode.

Unfortunately not. Sorry for the delay in reply.

Don't worry, I'll just have to find a way around it. It works with netscape and other computers. It's just bothering me that something has changed the settings and I can't get it to go back.

Please download Rootkit Revealer (link is at the very bottom of the page)
  • Unzip it to your desktop.
  • Open the rootkitrevealer folder and double-click rootkitrevealer.exe
  • Click the Scan button (bottom right)
  • It may take a while to scan (don't do anything while it's running)
  • When it's done, go up to File > Save. Choose to save it to your desktop.
  • Open rootkitrevealer.txt on your desktop and copy the entire contents and paste them here

C:\PROGRA~1\Yahoo!\PARENT~1\YPCSER~1.EXE

I'm wondering if that is blocking it. Isn't that a parental controls safety setting?

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. If you have Windows XP, the search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

===============

Run HiJackThis then:

1. Click "Config..."
2. Click "Misc Tools"
3. Click "Open Process manager"

-

Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate (if present) and click on (highlight) each of the following:

C:\PROGRA~1\Yahoo!\PARENT~1\ypc.exe

Now double-check and make sure that only those item(s) above are highlighted, then click "Kill process". Now, click "Refresh", check again, and repeat this step if any remain.

run hijack this and put a check mark next to this one.

O23 - Service: YPCService - Yahoo! Inc. - C:\PROGRA~1\Yahoo!\PARENT~1\YPCSER~1.EXE

Please run CleanUp! Reboot and run hijack this again and let me know how it's running.

Sorry for the delay, I don't know what happened, but now the sbc pages shows up now. It looks different, maybe they're merging w/ at&t?? But that doesn't explain why I could log into it from the computer at work and not my own computer.
Thanks for your help and patience.
