hey geeks

how do I find out if I have a DVD-R or DVD+R drive and what does the - or + mean?

I've tried looking into the device manager but didn't see anything. the reason I'm asking is I want to burn a backup dvd and I've bought a DVD-RW one because the shop assistant told me it's the more common one, but I'd like to be sure before trying it and busting the drive if I'm wrong. my system specs are as follows

fujitsu siemens laptop, windows XP home, hd 40GB, intel pentium 4 CPU 2.80 GHz; CD/DVD drive: Slimtype Combo LSC-24082K

Hi J_A!

Please download Everest Home Edition using the link in my signature. Install it and then run it. Do a System Scan and post the results, as an ATTACHMENT, to your next post here. We should then be able to see exactly the type of dvd r/w drive you have and what type of dvds it can burn.
