Hey. New to this forum, and am just following the instructions and creating a new post even though there are already a couple of these made. I keep getting this WinFixer popup, my spyware scanners tell me i have Virtumundo, and my McAfee Virus Scan tell me I have a PUP and i checked this in one of the other threads and it is the same one for the WinFixer. i have run every scan that i have and the ones provided by your staff...but my McAfee antivirus keeps coming up sayin that a PUP was found and it gives a file path of: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\jkhfc.dll

i hit remove but it says that it may be write protected and can not be deleted..i even tried delteing it in safe mode..but no luck...please help me

Open Spybot and click on Mode and check Advanced Mode
Check yes to next window.
Click on Tools in bottom left hand corner.

We need to disable your Microsoft AntiSpyware Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.

Open Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Click on Tools, Settings.
In the left pane, click on Real-time Protection.
Under Startup Options uncheck Enable the Microsoft AntiSpyware Security Agents on startup (recommended).
Under Real-time spyware threat protection uncheck Enable real-time spyware threat protection (recommended).
After you uncheck these, click on the Save button and close Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Right click on the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the taskbar and select Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Reverse the process when you’ve carried out the advise.

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):

• Empty Recycle Bins
• Delete Cookies
• Delete Prefetch files
• Cleanup! All Users

Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

Run the Free use Panda Active Scan.

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HiJackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

before you were able to answer me...i kept doing the scans and was able to delte the jkhfc.dll file...and my mcafee no longer says that i have a PUP. The only thing that i have noticed is that when i start my computer it says winlogon.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close, send error report. But just to be on the safe side, i am running the active scan and a HJT scan. I also have run the clean up, but no VundoFix.

ok...now i have a new problem....at first when i first start internet explorer...a window comes up and at the top left in the blue part...it says Error Detected...but nothing in the window...and then my entire internet explorer shuts down...and then ill open it back up...and at random points it will shut down again...so here is my current HJT log

I see you are running eTrust's Pestpatrol tool. Make sure it doesn't run now!


Please disable SpybotSD’s protection, as it may hinder the removal of the infection. You can enable it after you're clean.

Open Spybot and click on Mode and check Advanced Mode
Check yes to next window.
Click on Tools in bottom left hand corner.
Click on Resident icon.
Uncheck Teatimer box and/or Uncheck Resident.
Close Spybot.

We need to disable your Microsoft AntiSpyware Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.

Open Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Click on Tools, Settings.
In the left pane, click on Real-time Protection.
Under Startup Options uncheck Enable the Microsoft AntiSpyware Security Agents on startup (recommended).
Under Real-time spyware threat protection uncheck Enable real-time spyware threat protection (recommended).
After you uncheck these, click on the Save button and close Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Right click on the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the taskbar and select Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Reverse the process when you’ve carried out the advise.

Please disable Spyware Doctor, as it may interfere with the fix. To disable Spyware Doctor:

• Click the Spyware Doctor icon in the System Tray.
• Click Settings.
• Click Startup Settings under Pick a Category.
• Uncheck Run at Windows startup.
• Click Apply and Exit Spyware Doctor

Once your log is clean you can re-enable Spyware Doctor.

We need to disable your Microsoft AntiSpyware Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.

Open Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Click on Tools, Settings.
In the left pane, click on Real-time Protection.
Under Startup Options uncheck Enable the Microsoft AntiSpyware Security Agents on startup (recommended).
Under Real-time spyware threat protection uncheck Enable real-time spyware threat protection (recommended).
After you uncheck these, click on the Save button and close Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Right click on the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the taskbar and select Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Reverse the process when you’ve carried out the advise.

Move to Start > Settings > Control Panel
Double click Add/Remove Programs.
Within Add/Remove programs click the "Install/Uninstall" tab or click the "Change or Remove Programs" button.
Within this section you will see a listing of programs that are currently installed that support this feature. If the program I’m advising you to uninstall is listed within this list, highlight it and click the Add/Remove or uninstall option or button.

Download the Killbox.
Unzip it to the desktop

Double-click Killbox.exe to run it.

Select "Delete on Reboot".
Place the following line (complete path) in bold in the "Full Path of File to Delete" box in Killbox:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ddaba.dll
Put a mark next to "Delete on Reboot"
Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.
If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

after all that. i thought the problem was gone. but i just turned my computer on and was looking at some stuff on the internet and i got the winfixer pop up again. its not as serious though because i dont get pop up that autmatically tries to download winfixer and shuts all IE windows down. and by the way, wut virus/spyware software do you use to keep your computer running nice?

and that winfixer popup is like constant now and also when it comes up it like freezes any other IE windows i have open and i have to exit them and bring new ones up
