no sound from my new ha ha used laptop (ibm thinkpad)
every thing I see says system should be working
no system sounds or otherwise
driver maybe?

please help as I need to take this thing with me for a two week
hospital stay starting tommorrow no time to take it back

When you look in Device Manager do you see any yellow question marks. Those are usually things that need drivers. You might try going to the IBM website and finding them first.
