Hello Elly1200 and welcome to Geeks to Go

As an introduction, please note that I am not Superhuman, I do not know everything, but what I do know has taken me years to learn. I am happy to pass on this information to you, but please bear in mind that I am also fallible.

Please note that you should have Administrator rights to perform the fixes. Also note that multiple identity PC’s (family PC’s) present a different problem; please tell me if your PC has more than one individual’s setting, but continue with the fix.

Before we get underway, you may wish to print these instructions for easy reference during the fix, although please be aware that many of the required URLs are hyperlinks in the red names shown on your screen. Part of the fix may require you to be in Safe Mode, which will not allow you to access the internet, or my instructions!

You have a mixture of malware and Trojans that need to be eradicated. Let’s see what we can do with the first sweep.

Firstly could you please disable Ewido Guard from running during the fix, it may just hinder our attempts to change anything. Open Ewido and remove the guard option.

To start please download the following programmes, we will run them later. Please save them to a place that you will remember, I suggest the Desktop:

Killbox by Option^Explicit
CCleaner

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {FC148228-87E1-4D00-AC06-58DCAA52A4D1} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\mlljj.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: mlljj - C:\WINDOWS\system32\mlljj.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: vtstu - vtstu.dll (file missing)

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked.

Please install Killbox by Option^Explicit.
  • Extract the programme to your desktop and double-click on its folder, then double-click on Killbox.exe to start the programme.
  • In the Killbox programme, select the Delete on Reboot option.
  • Copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:
C:\Program Files\Netscape Internet Service\dialer.exe
C:\Program Files\Netscape Internet Service\css.exe

  • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".
  • Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "Yes" at the reboot now prompt.
If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again.

There is almost certainly bound to be some junk (leftover bits and pieces) on your system that is doing nothing but taking up space. I would recommend that you run CCleaner. Install it, update it, check the default setting in the left-hand pane, ensure you uncheck old prefetch data found under the system tab, then click Analyze> Run Cleaner. You may be fairly surprised by how much it finds. Also click Issues then Scan for issues – fix selected issues

Post back a fresh HijackThis log (from normal mode) and I will take another look.

I ran HijackThis again and fixed the three objects that you instructed. But, before I go any further, I'm concerned with the next step suggested. If I put the next two paths that you suggested into Killbox, won't that remove the way I connect to the internet?? (C:\Program Files\Netscape Internet Service\dialer.exe &
C:\Program Files\Netscape Internet Service\css.exe) Netscape Internet Service is my ISP.

My other question is, shouldn't I only run Killbox when I'm in Safe Mode, or that's not necessary?

Thanks again!

Hello again

Please do not proceed with the fix.

When I checked out C:\Program Files\Netscape Internet Service\dialer.exe with Google, this is what I got: http://www.bleepingc....exe-11683.html : Filename: dialer.exe
Description: Adware downloader - also detected as a variant of the TROJ_LOWZONES.BW or TROJ_AGENT.RD TROJAN

I was not convinced by that, but then I checked C:\Program Files\Netscape Internet Service\css.exe, and got this: http://www.auditmypc...process/css.asp : css.exe (Lanfilt.b Trojan) - Details,
If you have a program called css.exe running on your computer, your system may have been infected with a trojan that goes by the name of lanfilt.b.

css.exe is considered to be a security risk, not only because antivirus programs flag Lanfilt.b Trojan as a trojan, but also because other sites consider it a Trojan as well.

So at this stage I have got a maybe and a definite, combine that with the fact that you've got pop-ups and I can't see much of anything else to be causing this behaviour, and the probabilty goes up.

Please accept my apologies.

Would you, in that case, please run this:

Download:WinPFind

Right Click the Zip Folder and Select "Extract All"

Don't use it yet!

Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

From the WinPFind folder-> Doubleclick WinPFind.exe and Click "Start Scan"

It will scan the entire System, so please be patient!

One you see "Scan Complete"-> a log (WinPFind.txt) will be automatically generated in the WinPFind folder.

Restart normally and post the contents of WinPFind.txt

BTW, Killbox is OK in normal mode.

"Edit,
As there has been no reply from the original poster this topic is now closed,
Should you have any further problems please create a new Topic,

Thanks "
