Hi,

I am running Windows 98 and for some reason my system will not defrag anymore. When I click on my computer then right click on the C drive, click tools and click defrag now it says - MMC cannot create node manager. Make sure the file mmcndmgr.dll is registered.

If I try to defrag through system tools, it just locks up altogether. I have even tried doing it through safe mode and the same things occur.

It used to defrag so I do not know what has changed. Do you know how to fix this problem?

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks,

Ira

You may want to run system file checker first. Go to Start>Run, type in sfc, hit OK. You will need your installation files, whether on the Companion or installation cd, or you hard drive.

If this doesn't work you can download many such files from the web, just use Google to find a download.
