XP path

The path in dos window that tells xp which exe files to look for is now missing can anyone point me in the right direction as to what is supposed to be in this path? I currently have my video drives and a few networking things there that the local ISP helped me with. I think the newest version of catalyst drivers deleted the rest since that was all that was left there.
