I just recieved a laptop from my work and wish to network it with my home pc. It does not have to access the internet on the network. both are running Windows XP home. I tried buying a patch cable and useing the network wizard on xp bu that insists on an internet conection, I can't get just the two to connect. I can't use a one of those sticks becasue the files are too large, and I don't want to use cds because of price.

Azzuming you're using the patch cable directly from PC - Laptop.............. ??

If so, then you need a CROSSOVER cable
