Are there any sites where they offer audio file hosting..like, say you create an audio file and want to use it in a podcast. So, you'd want the file alone on there without anything else (embeded audio). Are there any free file hosting sites that embed the audio file for you?

Myspace is a good option; they have a radio-type player that autoplays a file when you go to the musician's page. The drawback is that you have to offer your files through their browsing environment, which has it's advantages but may not be what you want.

CDBaby has some great options too but isn't free. They do have lots of digital distribution options however.

You can just embed the audio yourself. Google "embed audio" and you'll get a bunch of tutorials.
