I just bought a new Dell desktop with WIN XP Prof. My old computer is an HP that was upgraded from WIN ME to WIN XP home edition (upgrade caused lots of problems). On the new computer I plan to reload all the program disks and then restore the data files to avoid the 'backup-restore' issue in case I have some damaged or virused files. My question is??? is there anyway to copy or transfer other information like my internet favorites and e-mail addresses to a jump drive and then over to the new computer? Or am I just asking for trouble if I do this? Thanks for any help!

Sure, this is very common, and shouldn't cause any problems. A quick search on the Internet will provide links to export your favorites and email addresses.
