Good morning!
This is the first time I have posted on here so forgive me if I am not doing it correctly! I have recently been infected with various spyware pests and trojans which I have had success in removing - with a combination of S&D, Adaware, SpySweeper, Housecall etc. I am however left with one trojan horse in my system, that nothing seems to be able to remove! It's driving me crazy! It's been identified as trojan-downloader-ruin. I've read through this forum and many others and discovered that I am not the only one to have this problem, but I don't really understand the solutions. I've posted the Hijackthis log below and hope that someone might be able to point me in the direction, bearing in mind that I am not THE most computer-minded person out there!!
Thanks!!
Adam

We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.
Apply the update, reboot, and post a fresh Hijack This log.

Ok, thanks for replying - I'm currently trying to apply the update but that is proving more difficult than you might imagine so I'll post again when it has updated successfully and we can go further with this...
