Hi mojos and Welcome to GeekstoGo!

I need to see a file from your system please

Go to this Upload site and follow the instructions to upload a file
http://www.bleepingc...mit-malware.php

Upload any files you find in this folder---> C:\Program Files\System Files

Specifically this one please---> C:\Program Files\System Files\System.exe

Click Start-> Run-> Type in Services.msc and Click OK

Scroll that list and locate this entry

Command Service

Right Click that entry and Select Properties-> Click Stop-> Go up and change the Startup Type to Disabled!

Click Apply-> OK and Exit the Services Page!

Download WinPFind:
http://www.bleepingc...es/winpfind.php

Right Click the Zip Folder and Select "Extract All"

Don't use it yet!

Reboot into SAFE MODE(Tap F8 when restarting)
Here is a link on how to boot into Safe Mode:
http://service1.syma...src=sec_doc_nam

After restarting in Safe Mode,Configure Windows to Show All Hidden Files and Folders Here is a link to help with that:
http://www.bleepingc...torial=62#winxp

Locate and Delete this folder

C:\WINDOWS\TWF1cmljZQ

Click Start-> Run-> Copy&Paste the bold text below into the Open Box and Click OK

sc delete cmdService

From the WinPFind folder-> Doubleclick WinPFind.exe and Click "Start Scan"

It will scan the entire System, so please be patient

One you see "Scan Complete"-> a log (WinPFind.txt) will be automatically generated in the WinPFind folder

Run MSCONFIG and enable everything in the startup area. To get to MSCONFIG, click on Start -> Run -> type in MSCONFIG -> click OK!

Under the "General" Tab

Make Sure "Normal Startup-load all device drivers and services" has a green tick by it

Click Apply>>Close>>Follow the Prompts to Restart!

Restart Normal and have the PC Scanned here:
BitDefender Online Scanner

You will need to be using Internet Explorer for the Scan to work

Save the Report it generates

Post back with a fresh HijackThis log and the reports from WinPFind and BitDefender

Sorry for the delays, work has been hectic.

Go ahead and Delete this folder----> C:\Program Files\System Files

Have HijackThis fix this entry

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [CAS2] "C:\Program Files\System Files\System.exe"

Have these 2 files scanned at the 2 sites below

http://virusscan.jotti.org/
and
http://www.virustota...h/index_en.html

C:\WINDOWS\hefadmie.dat

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\nssB.dll

Let me know the results of those scans please.

Lets do one more Online Scan here
http://support.f-sec.../home/ols.shtml

Post the results of the file scan and Online Scan, along with a fresh HijackThis log and let me know if the PC is acting any better?

OK,Definatly delete this file

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\nssB.dll

Let me make sure there arent any hidden buggers in there.

Please download Rootkit Revealer (link is at the very bottom of the page)
  • Unzip it to your desktop.
  • Open the rootkitrevealer folder and double-click rootkitrevealer.exe
  • Click the Scan button (bottom right)
  • It may take a while to scan (don't do anything while it's running)
  • When it's done, go up to File > Save. Choose to save it to your desktop.
  • Save it as RKR.log
  • Open RKR.log on your desktop and copy the entire contents and paste them here

Post those results in the next reply.

Let me have a closer look at that Reg Key.

Click Start-> Click Run-> Copy&Paste the bold text below into the open Run Box and Click OK.

regedit /e c:\key.txt "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Hardware Profiles\0001\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum"

Now Click Start-> Click My Computer-> Double Click Local Disk (C:) and locate key.txt
