It is my black print cartridge that has the problem supposedly, but it's brand new and it says it doesn't work, but I know it's fine! Can I get any suggestions?

Did you remove the protective cover on the black print cartridge before inserting it? I know it's a stupid question, but you wouldn't believe how many people forget to do that.

Is the cartridge an original HP product or a replacement? I have seen many more problems with replacements. If it is unused, or hardly so, try to replace it with another cartridge where you bought it. Install the new one and check again.
