my computer is constantly running at 100%. i know i have a lot of stuff that shouldn't be on there. as a new pc owner, i'm kind of an idiot on the subject, so any easy solution might be the case. thanks!

You could try some of the performance tweaks in this sticky, but you may also want to post a HijackThis log in the Malware Removal forum just to make sure you don't have any malware. Please read this before you post a HijackThis log, and please the log here in the malware removal forum.

Also, if you ask, the person who helps you with your log may be able to point out some programs that don't need to start up with Windows if you aren't happy with the performance after removing any malware.
