AVI issue: Folder instantly shuts down!

Having a problem with certain AVI's...upon opening a folder containing one, the folder suddenly shuts down and I'm sent right back to the desk top. This also occurs upon clicking on certain avi's as well. Some work. Some don't....so it's a bit confusing!

Any tips??
